I've been wanting to post something like this for a while now on Cartoon Network, and the current direction they're going in. First off, why should we have live-action? Clearly the name of the channel is " CARTOON NETWORK"! So should Turner bring back CNX to dump some of that live-action programming? Who knows. Second off, should CN change there name completely? I read somewhere that maybe they should change there name from Cartoon Network to " The Network". What do you guys think about this? And finally, we've all noticed that CN is bringing back a few classics, like Dexter's Lab and Courage the Cowardly Dog. Could they slowly be, being brought back into the game? Who knows? So what are your thoughts on the current direction of CN. I would like to see everyones thoughts on this topic.

I agree with you, vsigma100. Live-Action programming normally fails on Cartoon Network. Even if they were to make another live action series, it will probably die within a few months of airing. Cartoon Network should be a place for animation, and the live action should be pushed to the Hub or Nickelodeon or something. If Stuart Snyder ever does make the worst case scenario, we might as well call Cartoon Network this: The Turner Family Channel.

Honestly I do hope the Hub will take over these shows, as they could most likely make them better show's, especially with Destroy Build Destroy and especially Hole in the Wall with all the game shows they currently have airing on the network right now. And " The Turner Family Channel, sounds interesting. I like your ideas.

You know, the live action shows Cartoon Network tries to air are...bleh. Except for Tower Prep, but it's the one live-action series they try to kill by airing new episodes after one-star movies.

I agree with you on this one. I wasn't really into live-action series on Cartoon Network anyway, but I did find Hole in the Wall a pretty good game show. Some of those live-action series need to be pushed to different networks. For example, Survive This is better off on Discovery Kids... that would be The Hub. Other than that, my first idea would be effective.

I think Live Action is gonna be the death of Cartoon Network. However, at least we have Adventure Time, Regular Show, MAD, Symbionic Titan and Robotomy (haven't seen much of though). BTW WHY DO PEOPLE HATE REGULAR SHOW THAT MUCH??!?! IT'S TRYING TO HAVE AN ADULT APPEAL LIKE ADVENTURE TIME, TOO?

You should see how much attention it's getting back at ToonZone. By the way, live-action series end up failing within a few months anyway. If you don't like seeing live-action series on CN, avoid watching it and watch only animated programs on the channel.

Did anyone notice that The Powerpuff Girls returned to Cartoon Network on December 6, 2010? Proof is over here: www.toonzone.net/forums/showthread.php?t=276410There's some good improvements going on with Cartoon Network lately in my opinion. Is it really getting better?

But does anybody know why Regular Show gets so much hate? Regular Show and hate do not belong in the same sentence. I can't get enough of that show. Not sure where you're seeing a lot of hate for it. I more commonly see people (rightfully) be critical of MAD or (prematurely) disregard Robotomy. Live action on Cartoon Network has always been a bad idea outside of live-action adaptations of their own cartoons but even those I prefer to be few and far between. I have a lot of devotion and faith toward the medium of animation. Animation can be used to tell any kind of story imaginable. So why do they need live action at all? Even game shows can be animated either in part or entirely such as the Total Drama franchise. They can produce tween targeted comedies about human kids in school akin to iCarly and Wizards of Waverly Place in animated form. Sure they'd be corny as all give out but so are the live-action shows. The problem is, Cartoon Network still isn't quite comfortable in its own skin. They believe imitating the competition is how they'll draw more viewers but the truth is that being different from the competition is their only hope to stand strong against it. Great minds don't think alike, they think for themselves. I've more or less gotten used to live-action on Cartoon Network it's so much the norm that it barely even phases me and I think that's their plan. Push live-action until more viewers accept it as the norm but that is no easy task because a network like CN has far too much of a legacy behind it for people to roll over and accept the live-action agenda. Kind of sad to say that people are that concerned with a television network but they are that should be a clue that some people shouldn't be so concerned with a network that doesn't even target them but it should also be a warning sign to the network that their agenda is not working. As long as live-action alternative programming continues to puts some butts in seats it's going to stick around but thankfully they at least seem to understand that putting effort into making great cartoons helps them succeed. That's a lesson I wish they had learned a good couple of years ago before it all went to crap. We're on the upswing now though. I can feel it.

They also put Dexter's Lab back on! I also hear that they're bringing back Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi!!!!!!!! Eeee! ;D But that's only a rumor...it better be true! I also hear that they're bringing back Out Of Jimmy's Head. I never really cared for that show even if the people who animated HHPAY animated it. You know what bugs me and a lot of other people though? In the movie Re-Animated, Jimmy's crush and her little brother are Asian. In the show however, they're African American. Inconsitency much?

My fave show on the network at the moment is MAD (as well as Adventure Time and Regular Show). I also like how MAD is done by the guy that did the Henry and June shorts on KaBlam!

I knew this would happen sooner or later that Cartoon Network would lose yet another hour of programming to [adult swim]. In my opinion, I think that scheduling will be a big challenge for Cartoon Network (main network) on the long run. Any comments on this?

Now I don't have to decide whether to watch George Lopez or King of the Hill at 10 anymore. But I really haven't thought about how scheduling will turn out. Maybe just same prime-time just cutting the 9 o'clock hour shows? I don't know. I've been focusing more on Nicktoons if you guys couldn't tell in the fantasy thread (shameless plug). But yeah [as] at 9 is fine with me.
