You were all waiting for this, right?
It's about time that we talk about one of the once popular and most forgotten adventure game series alive, StarTropics!
StarTropics was a short-lived adventure game series that first started in late 1990 for the original NES. The series starred All-American main protagonist Mike Jones (not to be confused with the rapper by the same name), who was on a search on clues throughout C-Island about his Dr. Jones's mysterious disappearance. The path to victory (like most adventure games) is vigorous and filled with gruesome monsters, puzzles and weapons along the way, but it's all worth it at the end when you save Mike's uncle, Dr. Jones.
The sequel, Zoda's Revenge, actually finds Mike Jones warped into a worldwide adventure through time via a mysterious book entitled The Oxford Wonder World. Mike was sent on a quest around the world and throughout various time periods to recover the seven Tetriads, as well as clash against his old alien archrival, Zoda, once and for all.
Zoda's Revenge is also one of the last Nintendo-published titles to be released for the original Nintendo Entertainment System, while the honour for definite last Nintendo-published NES game goes to Wario's Woods.
StarTropics and it's sequel, Zoda's Revenge, were never released in Japan, though. But both games were developed in-house in Japan , yet only unleased in North America (and Europe as well). If you like playing The Legend of Zelda game series, you'll find StarTropics to your liking.
